IXIM

IXIM is a civil society organization that since 1989 has accompanied 6 indigenous Tseltal communities in the municipalities of Ocosingo, Chilón, and Yajalón, in the jungle zone of Chiapas, Mexico.

Through a comprehensive project that encompasses physical, social, environmental, and economic well-being, Ixim supports Tseltal families to improve their living conditions for the construction of a dignified life in harmony with their values and culture.

Ixim promotes the self-development of families and communities through the implementation of eco-techniques for purified water; the elimination of smoke in the kitchen and reduction of firewood consumption; good nutrition through the production of vegetables in family gardens; care for the environment with agroecological practices; and the promotion of productive units to develop feasible products for commercialization and production in the communities.
